Frequently asked questions

Do I need my own bat or equipment?

No – equipment is included in every session, so you can just turn up and play. If you have your own bat and prefer to use it, that’s absolutely fine too.

I’ve never played before – is that a problem?

Not at all. Ayr Table Tennis Hub is built around a friendly, welcoming atmosphere for complete beginners as well as more experienced players. Come along, and we’ll help you get started.

What ages can come to the family session?

The Tuesday family session (4:30–6pm) is designed for parents, children and younger players of all ages.

How much does it cost?

Sessions are pay-as-you-go at £3 per session, which includes a tea, coffee or juice as well as equipment use. There’s no membership fee and no long-term commitment.

Do I need to book in advance?

No booking required – just turn up!

Where exactly do you play, and is there parking?

We play at Alloway Village Hall, 36A Alloway, Ayr, KA7 4PY – just a short drive from Ayr, Prestwick and Troon. Free parking is available at the Burns Cottage over the road.

What should I wear?

Comfortable clothes and trainers are ideal. There’s no strict dress code – we’d rather you just come and enjoy the game.

Is there a session for more competitive or experienced players?

Our current sessions are relaxed and social rather than competitive league play. If there’s enough interest in more serious or competitive table tennis, get in touch – we’re always happy to hear what people would like to see.

Is Ayr Table Tennis Hub affiliated with a governing body?

Yes – we’re affiliated with Table Tennis Scotland.
